After the success of the first game, My Talking Angela, the famous cat is back in My Talking Angela 2. Much like the previous entry, My Talking Angela 2 is a simulator game where you look after a cat named Angela. You will have to feed, groom, bathe, and dress her, as well as do her shopping. So, let’s take a look at the game in more detail.
Gameplay
My Talking Angela 2 begins with a tutorial on interacting with objects and icons. Surprisingly, the tutorial allows you to explore other in-game objectives, something rare in modern mobile games. In other words, it doesn’t hold your hand too much. After the tutorial, you should know how the game works and be ready to take care of Angela.
My Talking Angela 2 is an easy, laid-back game. The point is to keep Angela happy and meet her basic needs. As expected, each activity drains Angela’s energy and rewards you with tokens and experience.
Apart from taking care of Angela, you can collect interesting items, decorations, cards, and clothes. These can be bought with in-game currency (i.e., coins) earned while you play the game. Alternatively, you can purchase coins with real-life money. The collectibles let you personalise Angela and make her home look and feel better.
Now, the game always starts in Angela’s bedroom. Angela is the cute white cat with big blue eyes. Even though the game is called My Talking Angela, Angela just hums when she wants something. When one of her stats falls below average, Angela will change her appearance and begin an animation to show what she needs.
At the bottom of your screen, you will find five icons. These represent different stats.
Energy: Perhaps the most important stat in My Talking Angela 2. Without energy, Angela can’t do anything. Energy decreases as you perform activities and recharges when she sleeps.
Hygiene: Another stat that also drains while Angela’s doing activities. It can be recharged when she takes a bath, goes to the toilet, and brushes her teeth.
Hunger: Feed Angela on time so that she’s not hungry.
Style: Like the other stats, style drains during activities. This can be recharged by changing Angela’s outfit, putting on her makeup, and grooming her.
Traveling: She enjoys visiting other countries for shopping sprees. By traveling, the game rewards you with experience, coins, and new fancy objects.
The icons change color as Angela does activities, with green being the maximum, yellow the average, and red the lowest. If you want to succeed in this virtual pet game, you will have to keep the right balance between the stats as you level up.
Coins can be exchanged for things like decorations and new skins. In My Talking Angela 2, there are also hidden minigames for you to discover, play, and earn rewards. You can also earn even more rewards by singing, playing music, and cooking.
Graphics
The game is quite polished and detailed. For a virtual pet game, My Talking Angela 2 looks very good. Angela has a nice cartoony look and is expressive.
Generally, the game doesn’t have visual bugs unless you’re playing it on a low-spec device. Even so, minor visual bugs don’t really affect gameplay.
Music
The background music is good enough and helps you focus on Angela’s humming. The sound effects are great, too. In fact, some are quite realistic, especially when Angela is slicing vegetables and fruits or when she’s eating.
Controls
There’s not much to control. In My Talking Angela 2, players don’t actually control Angela but drag objects to her. All in all, everything works well—no noticeable lags when moving objects.
How Long is My Talking Angela 2?
This is a sim game, meaning you can play it for as long as you like. In reality, you play for 15 to 30 minutes because Angela has to go to recharge herself in order for you to continue playing.
What About Ads?
Like all free-to-play games, My Talking Angela 2 has ads. When you complete an in-game activity, you’re forced to watch an ad, and there are also ads at the top of your screen.
Watching ads, though, can unlock new objects or skins. So, it might be worth watching a few of them.
What About Microtransactions?
The shop sells coins in packages from $0.99 to $120, as well as skins. The game also offers limited-time packages. However, there’s no option to buy-to-remove-ads, which is a real bummer.
Is My Talking Angela 2 Pay-to-Win?
This virtual pet game is F2P, meaning you don’t have to spend a dime to enjoy it. That said, it has a cash shop, which, at least, does not affect the gameplay directly. It just offers cosmetics in exchange for real-life money.
If you put enough time and dedication into My Talking Angela 2, it’s possible to unlock everything it offers.
