Outfit7 will team up with Google to develop in-car collaborations that will take Talking Tom to the next level.
In cars featuring Google Automotive Service (GAS) integration, the studio’s title My Talking Tom Friends will be available. As part of Outfit7’s virtual pet franchise, six characters join forces for the first time.
The collaboration marks Outfit7’s first in-car collaboration, an emerging trend that has recently seen major mobile makers like Rovio bring their titles to in-car entertainment systems.
Outfit7’s CEO, Xinyu Qian, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Google on this innovative project, expanding the reach of My Talking Tom Friends to even more players.” Outfit7 is delighted that Google has selected Outfit7 as one of only a few selected partners for their upcoming venture.
Mobile games have obvious advantages for in-car entertainment systems. Using the same touch-screen technology found on our tablets and smartphones, many of today’s in-car entertainment systems can port these titles to cars without requiring any modifications.
They should appeal to a wide age range, especially to younger players who might get bored on long car rides because of their accessibility and ease of use.
In the past, some obvious issues have led to legislation that prohibits games from being played in the front seats while the vehicle is in motion. With wider screens on dashboards and rear screens for passengers in the back, it seems obvious that mobile gaming will be a vital part of future in-car entertainment.
You can bet that as more and more brands move toward cars, we’ll see a whole new range of mobile content (and revenue opportunities) for the entire gaming industry.
