The time has come, and Peridot is finally available for pre-registration as of today. After almost half a year of beta testing in selected regions, Niantic is opening up its doors for Peridot to be available globally from the 9th of May 2023 on both iOS and Android. It has been a busy year for Niantic, but the developers have kept their promise since the announcement of Peridot almost a year ago. For those who were not fortunate enough to be in the selected regions for beta testing, get on it now and get yourself pre-registered!
With Niantic’s expertise on augmented reality games, it does not come as a surprise to us that Peridot is made so beautifully. At the get go, you are instantly absorbed into an enchanting fantasy world that adds brilliant colours to our very own world. The beauty of augmented reality location-based games is that you are required to constantly be on the move. After your precious Dot has hatched from its egg, you take it for daily walks, forage for tasty treats in different environments, take photos together or teach them tricks and play with them to keep them happy and healthy.
Watch them as they grow from baby to adult and eventually breed them. Watch as traits get passed down from parents to the next generation. Niantic has hinted that each Peridot is 100% genetically unique, and will pass down traits based on their colouring, horns, ears, tails and so on. This is all so exciting for players, as this will be a platform for them to share the looks and the personalities of pets that they have single-handedly brought up all by themselves.
As with other free mobile games, you have the option of in-app purchases. You can purchase Gemstones and Sundrops in the Store, or alternatively, you could earn them by completing Quests or Daily Dotnip rewards. Use your Gemstones to purchase nice items at the Store and your Sundrops to breed your Peridots! Get Breeding!
Overall, Peridot looks pretty promising, and there are claims that this is going to be the most interesting virtual pet game since Tamagotchi. I really hope they are right! Be an early adopter and pre-register on the App Store or Google Play now!
