As Niantic prepares for Peridot’s global launch, they are going all out with the Beta version in these 4 countries – Malaysia, Singapore, Denmark and Norway. Despite having no hints of the global release any time soon, they have recently done an update earlier this November adding some exciting new features, and removing unutilised ones to the existing version.
The developers have noticed that there were some features that did not make much sense to players, or were just not really contributing to a meaningful play experience. In the 0.25 release, they are doing away with Nests by changing the whole breeding system for your Dots, and also getting rid of Windchimes.
Similar to the Pokémon Go playstyle, your Peridots (or Dots for short) live in a camera-based AR world. Your adorable Dots can distinguish between different types of terrain, like grass, sand, water or dirt; and forage in these different terrains to get different types of food. This game also makes you physically get up and move about to get to different Habitats to breed with other Dots, or just to simply go for a walk. This latest 0.25 update has added daily and weekly quests to make these activities a little more exciting for you to bond more and engage with your Dots.
In addition to that, the update also includes more clarity around breeding with a new breeding system showcasing different traits and rarity levels, and also rewards for climbing up the ladder as a Keeper yourself. You will now be able to unlock the ability to breed for rarer Dot traits as you progress.
If you were lucky enough to be in these countries to enjoy the soft launch, Niantic will be gifting all soft launch players 5000 gemstones to spend on whatever their heart desires. This only applies to those who have registered before the 8th November 2022. The gemstones will be automatically credited to your inventory after the maintenance period.
As we hang tight and wait for the official global launch of the Peridot app, stay in touch with the Niantic fam on Instagram or Twitter, to follow the process every step of the way.
